Wilderness Therapy Namibia

Sep 1, 2025

At ONE Namibia, we believe in a world where humans don’t live off nature, but with it — sustainably and holistically. This spirit is not only something we share with our team and guests, but also with our wider community. That is why we are proud to shine a spotlight on Wilderness Therapy Namibia (WTN) and support their inspiring initiative.

What is Wilderness Therapy Namibia?

WTN is a welfare organization that takes vulnerable young people into nature to help them build resilience, confidence, and emotional strength. Through guided wilderness journeys, participants gain valuable life skills and renewed hope for the future.

The WTN-Program started in 2008 as an alternative approach to reach troubled adolescents between the ages of 16 and 20 years. Its aim is to de-stigmatize therapy and counseling through an adventure-based, physically challenging wilderness experience. Participants are encouraged to discover their strengths and potential while developing new behavioral patterns that set them on a healthier life path.

To date, WTN has successfully guided 656 participants through 82 wilderness hikes over 17 years, impacting the lives of at least 40 youths every year. What makes the WTN model unique is that the adventure intervention phase (the wilderness hike) is followed by at least 12 months of mentoring and capacity-building opportunities, ensuring long-term personal growth and support.

To raise funds for their work, three WTN teams will take part in the legendary Desert Dash — a 401 km mountain bike race across the Namib Desert, completed within 24 hours. Their endurance and teamwork reflect the perseverance WTN fosters in the lives of the youth they support.

ONE Namibia is proud to support this initiative by donating a voucher for a two-night stay for two people. The voucher will be raffled in a WTN fundraising tombola.

Every raffle entry helps fund WTN’s transformative programs, bringing healing and growth to young Namibians. Together, we show that nature heals — whether through a weekend getaway or a life-changing wilderness journey.

How You Can Get Involved
